Getting Started

Create your first event

Give your event a name, type, dates and rough guest count — that unlocks every planning tool for it.

On this page

What it is

An event is the container for everything: guests, budget, checklist, RSVP form, event page, orders, and any Concierge help you add later.

When to use it

As soon as you have a working date. You can change every detail afterwards, so a rough draft is fine.

Who can use it

Any signed-in user. Every account can create events.

Where to find it

Before you start

Step by step

  1. Enter an Event Name. This is what you will see in your dashboard and what guests see by default.

  2. Optionally add a Description — a sentence about the occasion.

  3. Choose an Event Type: Wedding, Birthday, Corporate, Baby Shower, Anniversary, Graduation, Holiday Party, Conference, Workshop, Fundraiser, or Other.

The type shapes suggested checklists, RSVP templates and décor ideas later on. Pick the closest match; Other is fine.

  4. Set the Start Date and End Date, including the time of day. Both are required.

  5. Enter your Expected Guest Count if you have one.

This number drives per-guest budget lines and the Concierge price, so a realistic estimate is worth a moment.

  6. Choose Create Event.

What you should end up with

You are taken to your dashboard and the new event appears in your list. Opening it shows the event hub with guests, budget, page builder and the rest.

Options and settings

Event Type
One of eleven types. It only tailors suggestions — nothing is locked to a type.
Expected Guest Count
An estimate. Change it whenever your list firms up; per-guest budget figures recalculate from it.
Start / End Date
Both required, both include a time. A single-evening party can start and end on the same day.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving the end date earlier than the start date. Set the end after the start.
  • Guessing a guest count of 0 or leaving it blank and then wondering why per-guest budget rows total nothing. Enter a number, even a rough one.
  • Creating a second event for the same party because the first one is hard to find. Check your dashboard list first.

If something goes wrong

The form sends me to the sign-in page.
You are signed out. Sign in and open the create-event page again.
Create Event does nothing.
Look for a red message above the form. A missing required field (name, type, start, end) is the usual cause.

Worth knowing

  • Name the event the way you would say it out loud — "Ada & Tobi, 14 June" beats "Wedding 2026 final v3".
  • You can create as many events as you like on a free account.
