Generation credits and allowances
How the monthly credit allowance works and what happens when you run out.
What it is
A monthly allowance of generation credits. Text generation spends one; an image spends three. The allowance is larger on Concierge, and resets each month.
When to use it
When a tool says you are out of credits, or when planning heavy generation work.
Who can use it
Any signed-in user.
Where to find it
Step by step
Open AI Subscription to see your balance and what has used it.
If you are running low, prioritise: text costs one credit, an image costs three.
Wait for the monthly reset, upgrade the event to Concierge for a larger allowance, or buy extra where that is offered.
What you should end up with
You are never charged for a failure
Common mistakes
- Regenerating images to tweak one detail. Three credits each adds up quickly — refine the words first.
- Expecting unused credits to roll over. They reset.
If something goes wrong
- My balance did not reset.
- Resets run on a schedule at the start of the month. Give it a day, then contact support.
- Credits were taken with nothing to show.
- Failures are refunded automatically. If yours has not been, contact support with the time.
