Event Page & Sharing

Control who can see your event page

Decide whether the page is open to anyone, link-only, or behind a password.

On this page

What it is

Access settings on your event page and, where you publish a digital programme, on that too. A page can be open, reachable only by its link, or protected by a password you give guests.

When to use it

Before you share the link. It is much easier than making a public page private afterwards.

Who can use it

The event owner, and platform staff.

Where to find it

  • Open an event → Event Website — the access settings sit with the page settings

Step by step

  1. Open the event page settings.

  2. Choose how the page should be reachable.

  3. If you choose a password, pick something you can say out loud over a phone, and put it on the invitation.

  4. Save, then open the link in a private browser window to check what a stranger sees.

What you should end up with

Only the people you intend can read the page, and you have verified it rather than assumed it.

Options and settings

Public
Anyone with the link can read it, and search engines may list it.
Link only
Anyone with the link can read it, but it is kept out of search listings.
Password
A password is required. Best for home addresses and private family occasions.

Common mistakes

  • Publishing a home address on a public page. Use a password, or leave the exact address to the invitation.
  • Choosing a password and then posting it publicly beside the link.
  • Assuming "link only" is secret. Anyone the link is forwarded to can open it.

If something goes wrong

Guests say the password does not work.
Passwords are exact, including capital letters and spaces. Re-set it to something simple and tell guests again.
My page is showing up in search results and I did not want it to.
Switch it to link-only or password. Search engines may take a while to drop an already-listed page.
